On my drive to work I pass a lovely woodland pond, practically right in the middle of the freeway. There is one family of swans who live there, and during the past seven years I've watched several generations grow up. Circling off the exit ramp each morning, I love seeing them floating serenely out, starting their day as I'm starting mine. I hope your little family of cardinals grows up without incident, and that you'll have the opportunity to see them take wing and fly :) Nature humbles me, the way all these small dramas play out over and over while we are largely unaware.
