Just today, my mother sent me a box that contained one of my gourmet shoeboxes (as I like to call them) filled with memorabilia from elementary school. I can't believe that Allie, the same girl posed against the brick wall at Hooker in the "What's Cool?" article has a baby-- and a beautiful one at that! Congratulations and love to all of you! It truly has been an astonishing thing.Now that I'm back at home, I need multiple updates each day, and it's still not the same. Allie says he's a very calm baby, just happy to be here. Are you old enough to be a grandma?! I was present at the birth of a friend's son and, like you, I was crying without realizing the tears were flowing. Birthing my own five children was incredible and empowering. Watching the process from another point of view is a different, beautiful miracle. When your characters have their babies, can one of them have a husband who breezes through the pregnancy with nonchalance and then freezes during labor? You know, noncommunicative and spacey, unwilling to go back to the car for the yoga music and CD player?! (thanks in advance :-) Chrissy Congratulations! Are you old enough to be a grandma?! The reason I am a maternity nurse, and my first love is labor and delivery, is because I've never gotten past my incredible awe of the beauty and power of birth. And I love holding the baby who is minutes old. They are such amazing creatures! BTW, Miles is a great name. It also happens to be Ean's middle name. Enjoy grandma-hood. Mazel Tov!!!!!
